Martin Luther Freedom of a Christian (1520)

This great work on Christian ethics can be found online here.
Also can be found in Martin Luther's Basic Theological Writings (paperback) here.

"Luther said (Calvin as well) that the monk is selfish. The monk does not think about how he could love and serve his neighbor. He does not have to have any relationships that obligate him to his neighbor. He is obligated one on one with God. He’s doing it in some degree for himself because he’s saving his own soul."  Michael Horton  September 7th 2004 in the first lecture in the Introduction to Reformed Theology: Putting Amazing Back Into Grace. A course at Westminster Seminary in Escondido.

...because even when you talk about, "well what about building community?" The Gospel creates the church. "But, what about Sanctification?" The Gospel drives Sanctification. "But, what about Evangelism?" The Gospel is the evangel.-Michael Horton in the broadcast titled: Rightly Dividing the Word: Law and Gospel.

Thank the Lord for the White Horse Inn

The Law is everything that God commands and the Gospel is everything that God gives; and what He gives in the Gospel is everything that He has demanded in the Law.-Ken Jones on the White Horse Inn Broadcast titled "Rightly Dividing the Word: Law and Gospel."
